Cohasset - A woman who worked at the Dunkin’ Donuts shop on Chief Justice Cushing Highway in Cohasset is charged with stealing $78,953 from the shop over a four-month period.
Alison S. Hurt, 28, of Plymouth allegedly took the money by forging deposit slips. She was scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court this morning, Cohasset police said.
Hurt is charged with larceny of more than $250, according to a criminal complaint filed May 6.
The manager and general manager of the store told police they thought Hurt had been switching deposit slips in order to mask the thefts.
A forensic audit of the store’s bank records shows that several large cash deposits were never made, beginning with $1,989 on Sept. 28.
Surveillance video shows Hurt leaving the store with the deposit bag on 14 occasions beginning Nov. 25, but deposits were never made.
In a Feb. 13 interview with Detective Garrett Hunt of the Cohasset Police Department, Hurt said she stole the money to support a drug habit, police said.
She then signed a written statement admitting to stealing the $78,000, police said.
