COHASSET -
Cohasset Police were called to a Route 3A auto body repair shop on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at about 8:20 a.m. for a report of a suspicious abandoned vehicle.
On arrival officers were directed to a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was parked in the lot. The business owner reported that the Jeep appeared in his lot several days ago complete with keys. The business owner thought that the Jeep was left by one of his customers for repair. During the week the Jeep was moved around the parking lot several times by employees while they waited for direction from the owner of the Jeep as to what repairs needed to be done.
Finally, after not hearing from the vehicle owner, the business called the person listed on the Jeep's registration, a 39 year-old male from Pembroke. The Pembroke man reported that his Jeep was stolen on Nov. 22, from a transmission repair shop in Pembroke. He had made a report to the Pembroke Police at the time of the theft.
Checks through NCIC (National Crime Info Center) showed that the vehicle was stolen. It was towed back to Cohasset Police headquarters to be processed for evidence. There was no visible damage to the Jeep.
